Privacy Notice
Effective date:
This notice explains what personal data the New York English Story Library (ny-eng-stories.vercel.app) collects and how it is used. A Spanish version, the Aviso de Privacidad, is available for readers in Mexico.
1. Who we are
The data controller is New York English, operated by Robert Cushman, based in Jardines de los Arcos, 44500 Guadalajara, Jal., Mexico. Contact: info@nyenglishteacher.com.
2. What we collect
- Visiting the public pages. We do not ask for any information, and we use no analytics or advertising tools. Our hosting provider records technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time) to operate and secure the site.
- Signing in. Reading the library requires signing in with a Google account through our authentication provider. We receive your name, email address and Google profile photo. Session cookies keep you signed in. Only email addresses we have approved can create an account.
- Stored only in your browser. Your theme (light or dark), whether captions are on, and where you stopped listening are saved in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to us.
We do not collect payment details or sensitive personal data, and we do not sell personal data.
3. Why we use it
Only to give approved readers access to the library, keep them signed in, and run and secure the site. We do not use your data for marketing, advertising or profiling.
4. How long we keep it
- Account data (name, email, profile photo): until you ask us to delete it, or until we remove your access.
- Session cookies: until you sign out or the session expires.
- Hosting request logs: for the period set by our hosting provider's retention policy.
5. Who else processes it
- Clerk, Inc. (authentication: name, email, profile photo, sessions) –clerk.com/legal/privacy
- Google LLC (sign-in with your Google account) –policies.google.com/privacy
- Vercel Inc. (hosting and request logs) –vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy
Story narration and illustrations are produced with AI services before a story is published. No information about readers is sent to those services.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to its use, or withdraw your consent. Readers in Mexico have these rights as ARCO rights (Acceso, Rectificación, Cancelación and Oposición) under the Ley Federal de Protección de Datos Personales en Posesión de los Particulares (LFPDPPP). Emailinfo@nyenglishteacher.com; we will confirm receipt and respond within the timeframes the law requires.
7. Deleting your account
Email info@nyenglishteacher.com with the subject "Delete my Story Library account" from the address you signed in with. We delete your account and confirm within 30 days.
8. Children
The library is intended for adults (18 or older). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Library pages and narration files are checked for a valid sign-in on every request, and only approved email addresses can create an account. No system is completely secure, but we limit what we collect to reduce what could be exposed.
10. International transfers
Clerk, Google and Vercel are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there and in other countries where they operate.
11. Changes
When this notice changes, we update the effective date above. Material changes are announced on the site.
